Introduction

Source your next container of dried spearmint leaves directly from Egypt — available as Whole Leaf, Cut, TBC, or Powder, processed to meet your exact specifications for tea blending, beverage manufacturing, food processing, or essential oil distillation.

Egyptian spearmint is the reference material for mint tea. Maghrebi mint tea, Gulf and Levantine tea blends, and much of the global herbal tea trade run on Mentha spicata from Egypt — buyers benchmark other origins against it rather than the other way round.

What defines the grade is leaf-to-stem ratio and colour. Egyptian Spearmint stem carries little aroma and adds weight without value, so a cut with high stem content contains less actual herb per kilo. Colour is the fastest read on drying quality: bright green leaf indicates controlled drying that preserved the volatile oil, while dull or browned material means heat damage, and the aroma will have gone with the colour.

Our family has traded and processed Egyptian botanicals since 1960, with cleaning, sorting, and grading handled in-house.

Pesticide residue testing is available when required by the destination country. EU-compliant pesticide residue testing is also available when required.

Available Forms

Choose the grade that best matches your processing requirements:

Whole Leaf — intact dried leaf for premium tea packing and applications where the botanical is visible. Packed in cartons to prevent crushing into fines.

Cut Spearmint — the highest-volume format. Cut to your specified size for tea blending and infusion. Spearmint dry leaves in cut form are what most tea packers order.

Spearmint TBC (Tea Bag Cut) — sized for automated tea bag filling. Tell us the particle range your line runs.

Spearmint Powder — fine-milled for flavouring systems, seasoning blends, capsules, and cosmetic formulation. Ground material loses aroma fastest, so we mill close to dispatch.

EIC Quality & Certifications

We stand behind the quality of our dried spearmint because we build long-term supply partnerships.

For independent verification, we accept third-party inspection by SGS or another inspection company of your choice, at the buyer’s expense.

Our certificates and registrations include:

  • NFSA registered with the Egyptian Food Safety Authority
  • ISO 9001 & ISO 22000 certified for quality and food safety management
  • FDA, DUNS, GACC (China), and MFDS (Korea) registered

View our certificates and registrations for support with import compliance.

Processing controls: harvest timed at peak oil content before the plant coarsens; controlled drying at managed temperature and airflow, since heat drives off carvone and browns the leaf; threshing and destemming, the step that defines the grade; multi-stage gentle sieving to limit fines and preserve leaf structure; magnetic screening for metallic particles; and moisture verification before packing.

Beyond certificates, we rely on our family experience and reputation. Our roots in the herb trade go back to 1960, beginning with our grandfather. We protect that reputation with every shipment and seek lasting relationships with importers.

Shipping, Export Coordination & Documentation

Shipping & Logistics:

  • FOB, CFR, and CIF Incoterms, with loading from Port Said, Alexandria, Damietta, and Sokhna ports
  • Cost-effective shipping arrangements through our freight partners

Export Documentation:

  • Commercial Invoice
  • Packing List
  • Certificate of Origin (COO)
  • Official Phytosanitary Certificate
  • Bill of Lading (BL)
  • Pesticide residue analysis when required by the destination country
  • Fumigation Certificate when required
  • War Risk Insurance for 40′ containers, covered by EIC

Silica gel is placed inside the container to help control humidity and protect the quality of the dried spearmint during transit.

Packaging, Shelf Life & Storage

Packing Configurations:

  • Cartons — recommended for whole leaf, to prevent compression into fines
  • 20 kg Polypropylene (PP) or kraft paper bags with inner liner — for cut, TBC and powder
  • Customized B2B packing available on request

Shelf Life: Up to 24 months when stored under recommended conditions. Spearmint powder is best used within 12 months.

Storage Conditions: Store The Dried Spearmint in a cool, dry environment below 20°C, protected from direct sunlight and humidity. Heat drives off volatile oil and light fades the green colour, so storage conditions matter more than the calendar date.

Supply Capacity & What Affects Spearmint Price

Supply Capacity:

  • MOQ: 1 × 20′ FCL. Dried leaf is very low density, so a container fills by volume well before weight — expect modest tonnage per FCL: 6 MT.
  • Regular monthly shipping availability
  • Contract-based programs for continuous annual-volume supply
  • Consolidation available — spearmint can ship alongside peppermint, chamomile, marjoram, and other leaf products in one container

What Affects Spearmint Price:

  • Leaf-to-stem ratio. The dominant factor. Stem carries little aroma, so a cut grade with high stem content contains less herb per kilo than destemmed leaf. Comparing the two makes the second look cheap when it is simply a different product.
  • Product form — whole leaf, cut, TBC, or powder
  • Crop. The latest harvest of Spearmint is the highest-priced, offering the best natural colour, aroma, and overall quality.
  • Order volume, packaging configuration, and timing relative to the harvest season

Because spearmint price varies according to these factors, we quote each shipment individually rather than publish a fixed rate. For better planning, check our Egyptian Herbs, Spices, Seeds & Legumes Harvest Calendar to understand seasonal timing. Send us your grade requirement and volume for an accurate quotation within 24 hours.

If you are comparing offers, tell us the leaf content you have been quoted — that is usually where the difference lies.

FAQs

Q1. Who are we? We are a third-generation family business established in 2007, with family roots in the herb trade going back to 1960. We process our products in two facilities: manual processing for delicate products and mechanized sorting and processing.

Q2. What is the difference between spearmint and peppermint? Spearmint (Mentha spicata) is carvone-dominant — sweet and soft, the mint used in Moroccan and Middle Eastern tea and cooking. Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is menthol-dominant — sharp and cooling, used in Western herbal tea, confectionery, and menthol extraction. Different species, not substitutable. See our bulk peppermint page for the others.

Q3. Which grade should I order? Cut for tea blending; TBC for automated tea bag filling; whole leaf where the botanical is visible in the pack; powder for flavouring systems and capsules. Send a sample of what you currently buy if that is easier than writing a specification.

Q4. Why do spearmint quotes vary so much? Usually leaf-to-stem ratio. Stem carries little aroma, so a cut grade with high stem content contains less herb per kilo than destemmed leaf. Compare quotes on leaf content rather than headline price.

Q5. Why is the tonnage per container so low? Dried Spearmint leaf has very low bulk density — a 20′ container reaches its volume limit long before its weight limit. Normal for leaf herbs, and the packing format affects landed cost per kilo.

Q6. Do you seek long-term relationships with buyers? Yes. We serve customers across 21 countries spanning the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, the Gulf region, and Australia. We want every first shipment, and every shipment that follows, to strengthen trust and build a lasting partnership.

Q7. How can I verify and follow my order before shipment? You can verify your order through a factory visit, video verification, or third-party inspection such as SGS at the buyer’s expense. You can also follow your shipment through our export process. Explore Our Process

Q8. Do you supply the local market? No. We supply export markets only.
