Q2. What is the difference between dill weed and dill seed? Dill weed is the green leaf — mild, grassy, used in sauces, dairy, and dressings. Dill seed is the dried fruit — sharp and caraway-like, used in pickling and distillation. Same plant, different products, not substitutable. We supply both; see our bulk dill seed page for the seed.
Q3. Why does colour matter so much in dried dill? Because it is the fastest indicator of how the leaf was dried. Deep uniform green means controlled drying that preserved the volatile oils; olive or yellow leaf usually means heat damage, and the aroma will have gone with the colour. It is also what your customer sees in the finished product.
Q4. Can you cut to a specific size? Yes. Tell us the millimetre range or mesh your line runs, or send a sample of what you currently buy, and we will match it.
Q5. Do you supply dill weed powder? Yes, milled to your specification. Ground leaf loses aroma faster than whole, so we mill close to the dispatch date rather than holding ground stock.
